Backlight Strip vs Panel Damage
The number one overcharge tactic in television repairs is claiming the "entire display panel is dead" when in reality only an inexpensive LED backlight strip burned out.
LED Backlight Burnout
Symptoms: Audio plays fine, channels change, but picture is pitch black. Perform the flashlight test: if faint silhouettes appear under direct torch light, the LCD panel is healthy; only internal LED bars need replacing.
True Glass / Matrix Fracture
Symptoms: Spider-web cracks, colored vertical/horizontal lines, or bleeding ink patches. Replacing the actual glass matrix is 70–80% of the cost of a brand-new TV and rarely economical.
Board-Level Repair vs Modular Swapping
Inside every modern smart TV are three core boards: the Power Supply Board (SMPS), the Main Motherboard, and the Timing Controller (T-Con).
Screen Transport & Safety Standards
If the TV must be transported to a clean workshop bench for full LED strip replacement:
Padded Vertical / Safe Transit Mandate
Ensure the technician transports the TV upright in padded bubble wrap or foam flight cases. Transporting flat on a two-wheeler will crack the internal liquid crystal sandwich.
Photograph Glass Screen Prior to Handover
Take timestamped close-up photos of the outer glass under bright room lights before the unit leaves your doorstep to prevent disputes regarding transit fractures.
